3D evaluation of present-day and palaeo stress states to assess fault and fracture slip, stability and failure potential.

The Stress Analysis module enables rapid visualisation and assessment of 3D stress conditions and their impact on fault and fracture behaviour. It supports scenario testing across reservoir, mining and engineering applications, helping to define likely failure envelopes for key structural features.

Users can evaluate seal integrity and leakage risk, assess mineralisation potential, and predict geotechnical failure by modelling principal stresses and pressure profiles with depth, including hydrostatic, pore and lithostatic effects.

Stress Analysis

Quantify fault and fracture behaviour by computing slip tendency, dilation tendency, fracture and slip stability, retention capacity and leakage factor for planes and lineations. Critically stressed orientations can be visualised in 3D, with full linkage between stereonet, Mohr diagram and the 3D model for simultaneous selection and interrogation.

Shear and normal stress values are dynamically displayed as you explore stereonet plots, with colour mapping of stress attributes at specific depths for rapid interpretation. Users can also define pore pressure profiles and assess how stress conditions vary with depth.

This enables fast identification of faults and fracture sets most likely to fail or reactivate, with colour mapping highlighting areas of higher failure potential under user-defined stress states.
